kind of sentences
let's have first a review on sentence.We know already that sentence is a group of words that expresses a complete thought.And it has two parts,the subject and the predicate.The subject is the object spoken to in a sentence and the predicate tells about the subject.
For example,in the sentence:
My mother is a doctor.
The subject here is "My mother" because she is the object being talked in the sentence and the predicate is" is a doctor" because it tells about the subject.
At this point,since you are already familiar with the sentence,we will discuss the Kinds of sentences
There are four kinds of sentences namely;
1.Declarative or Statement
2.Command or Request
3.Interrogative or Question
4.Exclamatory sentence
Let's discuss it one by one.
First is the Declarative or the Statement.A sentence is a declarative or statement if it tells something.It ends with a period (.)and starts with capital letter.
For example:
1.The flower is beautiful.
2.It is raining today.
3.I love skating.
4.My father, together with his
friends is watching basketball.
The next is the Command.
Command is a sentence that commands.
Example:
1.Get a sheet of paper.
2.Make tea for me.
3.Wash the dishes after eating.
4.Open the door.
5.Get my bag on the table.
On the other hand, Request is also a command but in polite way.
For example:
1.Please open the door,Carlo.
2.Will you please get my bag.
3.Kindly open the gate.
4.Carla,wash my clothes, please.
5.Please buy a coffee for me.
Next is the Interrogative sentence or simply a question.It asks something.It ends with a question mark (?) and still starts with capital letter.
Example:
1.Where is your mother?
2.What are you doing?
3.Where do you live?
4.Do you like apple?
5.Are you here to visit my aunt?
The last is Exclamatory sentence.It is the sentence that expresses sudden feeling.Such as fear, sadness,or excitement.
It ends with an Exclamatory point(!).
Example:
1.Oh,the baby is falling!
2.Help! There's a snake!
3.Fire!Fire!
4.Wow! So beautiful!
5.Ouch!
