The Kitten and the Caterpillar ة



Katie the kitten liked to play. One day, Cory the caterpillar emerged from a hole in the wall while Katie was playing in the living room.

القطة (كاتي) تحب اللعب. وفي أحد الأيام اليرقة (كوري) خرجت من حفرة، بينما القطة ( كاتي) كانت تلعب في غرفة المعيشة


“ Hey!” Katie yelled. “ Do you want to  play with  me?”


صاح (كاتي): مرحبا! هل تريد اللعب معي ؟


Cory was reluctant.  He said, “I’d rather not play with you.  I  have several handicaps.

كان (كوري) رافضا. قال: أنا أفضل عدم اللعب معك، فلديّ بعض المعوقات.


My body is very delicate. Your claws are as sharp as hooks. You might cut me.

جسمي رقيق وحساس جدا، ومخالبك أحدّ من الصنانير،ربما تقطعني.


  Plus,  I have no bones, not even a spine. You could easily hurt me.”

إضافة لذلك، ليس لديّ عظام، ولاحتى عمود فقري،ويمكن أن تؤذيني بسهولة


“ I  swear that I won’t hurt you,” Katie said.

قال (كاتي): أقسم أنني لن أؤذيك


“ No,  I don’t want to,”  he said again.

قال(كوري) ثانية: لا، لا أريد


 He hopped from the wall, but Katie pursued him.

قفز(كوري) من الجدار، لكن (كاتي) طاردته


Cory ran into the kitchen and into the cupboard,  but Katie chased closely behind. 

 جرى (كوري) لداخل المطبخ ثم لداخل الخزانة، لكن (كاتي) طاردته عن كثب


Katie knocked appliances to the floor.  Plates fell into the sink and broke in the basin.

صدمت (كاتي) الأجهزة وأسقطتها بالأرض، وسقطت الصحون في الحوض وتكسرت به


Then he ran into a  bedroom. Some laundry was on the floor. Cory hid under a shirt,but Katie saw him. She jumped on the shirt.  Her paws left stains on the cloth, and her claws ripped the sleeves into strips.

لكن (كاتي) رأته، ققفزت على القميص، وتركت بقعا على القماش، وقطعت بمخالبها الأكمام إلى شرائح


However, Cory escaped.  He utilized a small crack in the floor to hide. But Katie saw him.

ومع ذلك، هرب(كوري) ، استخدم صدع صغير في الأرض للاختباء.، لكن (كاتي) شاهدته

“ Now you are trapped!” said  Katie.

قالت (كاتي): الآن أنت محاصر


Cory tried to avoid  Katie’s claws. 

(حاول كوري تجنب مخالب (كاتي


He moved his body as far into the hole as possible.

حرّك جسده إلى أقصى حد ممكن في الحفرة


He didn’t know how he’d get out of the hole.

 لم يكن يعرف كيف سيخرج من الحفرة


Just then, Katie’s owner came home. She saw that the house was a mess. 

عندها فقط ، عاد مالك (كاتي) إلى المنزل. رأت أن المنزل كان في حالة من الفوضى


She took a broom and swung it at Katie. She chased  Katie out of the house.

أخذت مكنسة ولوّحت بها على (كاتي). طاردت (كاتي) خارج المنزل


Cory was safe, and  Katie was left outside because she didn’t listen to the wishes of others.

كانت (كوري) آمنة ، وتركت (كاتي) في الخارج لأنها لم تستمع لرغبات الآخرين
